TECHNOLOGY : Transparent toaster concept

Okay, it's probably worth mentioning at this point that the transparent toaster concept doesn't actually work yet - while the prototypes might be able to gently warm a slice of bread, further research investment is needed to get the glass to heat up enough to actually toast it.

Inventables is an ideas incubator that's working on some very interesting concepts and prototypes at the moment, including fold-out e-paper screens for portable devices, mega-fast mag-lev waterslides, and cartons of milk that change color when the milk goes off.

TECHNOLOGY : No Burn Toaster

Some people are born to cook, and others seem to be incapable of making toast without burning it. Well help is at hand, as a UK-based company has developed a new technology which is able to sense the browness of toast to guarantee perfect toast every time without burning.

Paul Brown of Magnetic, Cambridge's new product and innovation design company, has patented the system which monitors invisible sugar and/or carbon particles using an ionising particle sensor.

Different particles are given off as caramelisation effects occur within the toast, crucially at the perfect brown level, creating the well loved sweet smell and taste, and until now their existence, particularly for use as a sensing opportunity, has been unknown.

The particles are sampled from the hot rising air off the toast surface into a suction tube, driven through the sensor and exhausted through the base. When a preset amount of particles are detected the cycle is terminated.

Re-toasting the same piece of toast will immediately emit the same particle count and so will be automatically popped up, still brown. This can repeated around seven times before the same piece starts to blacken, offering obvious breakfast time convenience and safety benefits in the home, industry and hospitals.

The real benefit of the product is it adjusts to every different type of bread and condition automatically, i.e. different colours, temperatures (even frozen), moistness and densities, meaning the user does not have to guess at a time or setting any more.

TECHNOLOGY : Aerodynamic long tail improves fuel efficiency 15 percent

While windtunnels have long been employed in aerospace and all forms of race engineering, we’re likely to see them employed more frequently in future in the quest for improved fuel efficiency from our automobiles. Ecomodder.com’s Darin Cosgrove recently added this 1.37 tailpiece to his Pontiac Firefly to improve its drag coefficient from 0.34 to 0.23 and its fuel efficiency by 15.1 percent at 90kmh (56mph).

The 15 percent improvement is just from the tail, and was comprehensively proven with multiple bi-directional averaged runs at exactly 90kmh on a straight and level road, with no other traffic. The tail was removed and reinstalled during the test so the ‘A-B-A’ comparisons could be made in identical conditions.

The moral of the story is that it’s just as important to leave the air undisturbed as it is to slice through it effectively and one wonders just what shape our cars (and trucks) will be a few decades from now given the remarkable results of this homemade fuel extender.

1 GB dulu dengan sekarang

Allah anugerahkan manusia dengan keupayaan akal fikiran. Agar dengannya manusia dapat memanfaatkan untuk memperbaiki mutu hidup agar lebih "sempurna" dan selesa. Dari semasa ke semasa, setiap buah fikiran yang berupa ilham yang Allah berikan diperbaharui sehinggalah dari suatu masa ke suatu masa inovasinya amat jelas kelihatan.

Contohnya kalau kita lihat peranti simpanan data pada tahun 1998 dengan peranti tahun 2005 seperti di atas. Hasil inovasi dan daya fikir manusia, kita dapat menikmati kemudahan-kemudahan ini tanpa kita sedar. Namun adakah ia hasil dari perahan otak umat Islam? Ke mana pergi kehebatan umat Islam dalam sudut inovasi dan penciptaan? Sedangkan suatu ketika dahulu umat Islamlah yang merintis jalan dalam penemuan-penemuan sains dan teknologi. Apakah punca kita kehilangan kehebatan itu sehinggakan setiap penemuan kini didominasi oleh golongan bukan Islam. Semoga Allah izinkan lahirnya generasi umat Nabi Muhammad yang mampu mengembalikan kedaulatan Islam.

TECHNOLOGY : Nissan V2G

The Nissan V2G concept was has taken out the Los Angeles Auto Show's 2009 Design Challenge. Entitled "Youthmobile 2030", this year's Challenge asked designers to encapsulate what tech-savvy young Gen Z drivers will be looking to take to the freeway 21 years from now. The result was six fascinating design concepts from the Californian studios of major companies, with the Nissan entry given the nod for its "holistic approach in answering the future's design questions."
The V2G (Vehicle-to-grid) is geared towards a world where the highway system is electrified courtesy of photovoltaic skins covering all major urban structures. The V2G is a low-cost transport solution that gets users on the grid via different access plans similar to mobile phone plans of today.

When on the grid, the vehicles can interlock and form traveling "flocks". But the V2G design also gives Gen Z an outlet for self-expression - it can be taken "off-grid" and customized with plug-and-play upgrade kits.



Entries were judged by multi-discipline design professionals who selected the winner based on its originality of creative concept, integration of futuristic design elements and level of adaptation to the needs of the youth consumer in 2030

."The scope of this year's concepts and designs - from the initial sketches to the final presentations - were very impressive," said Chuck Pelly, director of Design Los Angeles and partner in The Design Academy, Inc. "In the end, it came down to which team had the most inventive and solution-oriented design.

Nissan's designers showed passion and were able to create the ultimate Youthmobile for 2030 with their V2G design."

TECHNOLOGY : Next-gen Global Hawk HALE UAS

The first of the next generation of Northrop Grumman’s Block 40 configuration RQ-4 Global Hawk has successfully completed its first flight. The two hour flight took the aircraft from Northrop Grumman’s manufacturing facility in Palmdale, California to Edwards Air Force Base, California. Designated AF-18, the Block 40 configuration of the high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) will carry the Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Program (MP-RTIP) active electronically scanned array radar that will help warfighters detect, track and identify stationary and moving targets.

Northrop Grumman tout the Global Hawk as providing the safest and most cost-effective and efficient means of gathering intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) information over a vast geographic area without putting anyone in harm’s way. Flying at altitudes up to 60,000 feet for more than 32 hours per sortie at speeds approaching 340 knots, the MP-RTIP-equipped Block 40 Global Hawk can persistently see through most type of weather, day or night and is the world's first fully autonomous HALE UAS.
The aircraft is flown autonomously by flight control software under the direct supervision of a pilot. The pilot does not physically manipulate the control surfaces in flight but instead, he commands the computer to take action when needed, or the system can be left alone and fly a complete pre-programmed mission.Takeoff and landing are software controlled and poor weather is not a limiting factor for operation like it can be for other unmanned systems. The company says this allows the pilot and crew to focus on executing the national security intelligence collection mission, collecting thousands of pixels full of critical security intelligence, while the aircraft is flown by the sophisticated flight control computer.When fully fueled for flight, the Block 20/30/40 weighs approximately 32,250 pounds. More than half the system's components are constructed of lightweight, high-strength composite materials, including its wings, wing fairings, empennage, engine cover, nacelles, and three radomes. Its main fuselage is standard aluminum, semi-monocoque construction.This first flight marks the end of an era, as Global Hawk production acceptance activities will transition in the near future from Edwards Air Force Base to Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, to improve efficiency and flow of company products. The AF-18 is the eleventh of the next-gen Global Hawk Block 20/30/40s to arrive at Edwards and is the first of 15 Block 40 Global Hawk aircraft scheduled for fielding to Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, in 2010.

TECHNOLOGY : SWAT BOT

The Robotic Weapon or SWAT BOT is what you get when you cross a paintball gun and pepper spray with a remote-controlled RV whose parents were a laptop computer and the Road Runner. Designed for law enforcement situations like riot control, hostage scenarios, building security, bomb threats or other hostile or covert situations, this all-aluminum, lithium polymer battery powered unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is equipped with a 100-round magazine, wireless barrel-cam and can fire paint and pepper balls or hardened rubber rounds up to 250ft at a rate of 20 shots per second as well as travel at speeds in excess of 50mph.

Manufactured by Inspector Bots.com, a company that boasts of its “affordable, remotely-operated, electric vehicles designed to go where it is difficult, dangerous, hazardous, lethal, toxic or just too hostile for humans to go”, the SWAT BOT has a wireless control range of around 700ft, weighs 40lbs and can tow 20lbs. It can climb to a maximum of 30° and has a run-time between charges of between one to eight hours. It measures 36 inches (l) x 20 inches (h) x 20 inches (w).

This SWAT BOT has an M16 front sight, ACOG-style red/green dot scope, infra red, barrel-mounted camera and a fake suppressor. It can even take additional cameras and sensors to increase its situational awareness. It can be reconfigured to suit each specific mission.




Vision system
The mobile system comes with a wireless transmitter and an IR/low lux color camera with night vision which lets its operators see up to 35ft in darkness. It has a high-powered transmitter and receiver and can record its missions on video. Its vision system allows it to be guided via laptop, portable monitor or even a virtual reality headset.The “First Person View” allows a trained operator to control the vehicle as though they were inside it. The view can be adjusted to up, down, left and right while driving or stationary. It comes pre-assembled from the factory and ready for its first mission.




Prices vary, depending on what equipment you desire to have onboard and other capabilities, but pricing starts at US$4,000 and finishes around US$10,000.Other bots on the site include the ROMP, Spider Mite, Space Crawler, Delta and Mega Bot

Selesakan Pemanduan Anda

Nak memandu selamat, ada juga kaitannya dengan faktor keselesaan. "Keselesaan" pemanduan merupakan suatu yang abstrak. Berbeza definisinya mengikut individu. Namun bukan itu isu yang nak dibincangkan, sebaliknya idea bagaimana nak bagi "selesa" mengikut citarasa para "pemandu". Yang paling penting "fulus" (RM) untuk menjadikan kenderaan mereka lebih selesa, atau membeli kenderaan yang memang dah sedia selesa. Bagi yang ingin mengubahsuai kenderaan supaya jadi selesa sesuai dengan citarasa maereka, pilihlah mana berkenan...


Amacam? Cool kan? Macam permainan komputer. Baru seronok pemanduan kita. Kalau eksiden pun takda hal... "reset" balik, nanti keluar balik kat alam lain... erk :P




Yang jiwa lembut sikit dicadangkan warna-warna yang lembut agar pemanduan lebih tenteram. . . err... yeke?


Lembut sangat? Hah... ni lembut jugak tapi ada unsur ganas sikit je... boleh juga ni...

Keselesaan atau kemewahan kenderaan bukan jaminan keselamatan. Baca doa naik kenderaan... Tak ada doanya? Saya bagi, amik ni :
